Grant
Owner - Project Manager - Lead Carpenter
Grant Stelling is the founder of Compass, a company that he created to share his love for building with others and help them learn and grow in the building trades. His favorite part of the job is seeing the finished product at the end of the day and constantly improving his craft.
Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, and going on bike rides. Grant believes that one of the most valuable lessons he has learned from his work experience is to not quit and to stick to his values. In the future, Grant hopes to continue helping others grow and build careers in the industry. He believes that it is a rewarding career and wants to help others succeed.
Grant started pursuing a career in construction after taking a break from college and working on a construction crew. He enjoyed working with his hands and saw an opportunity to be involved in both carpentry and business. His advice to someone starting out in the industry is to be open to learning, ask questions, work hard, and check your ego.

Michaela
DRAFTSMAN - DESIGNER
Michaela's passion for helping homeowners with their projects led her to work with Compass. She loves guiding clients through every facet of their project and finds it extremely satisfying to help them achieve their goals. Michaela's favorite part of her job is the constant learning that Compass provides. She enjoys the challenge of advancing her skills and implementing what she has learned into her work. Michaela's biggest accomplishment in her career so far has been self-teaching all of the different drafting software that Compass has implemented over the years. She has learned that self-discipline is key to being a successful business owner, which has been a valuable lesson for her.
Michaela wants people to know that residential remodeling and construction is not just a "trailer and a hammer" industry. She believes that by modernizing the way projects are worked on, the industry can improve and provide more rewarding experiences for employees and homeowners.
Michaela's passion for design started when she was a child. She loved creating room designs with her Legos, Microsoft paint, and virtual home building and later became interested in interior design. After discovering a technical program for architectural drafting, Michaela pursued her passion and started her career in construction. Michaela is most proud of how many different architectural drafting programs she has self-taught, which has taken thousands of hours of dedication.
One thing that Michaela enjoys about working at Compass is the emphasis on technology. She believes that it brings a new sense of organization and detail to their projects. Michaela enjoys spending time with her family outside of work, going on bike rides, swimming, and playing in the yard. Her advice to anyone starting in the industry is to give yourself the opportunity to work and learn what your talents are, passion will surely follow.

Monty
Lead Carpenter
Monty has always been drawn to carpentry. There was something about the way his father worked with his hands that fascinated him. As a child, Monty would follow his father around, asking questions and trying to help out in any way he could. It was during these early years that Monty's love for construction was born.
As he grew older, Monty began to develop his own skills in carpentry. He experimented with different tools and techniques, always striving to improve his work. He was proud to know that he had been brought up with the core values of construction, which he had learned from his father.
Working with Compass, Monty enjoys that they are committed to personal and team growth and always strive to deliver the best experience for their customers. Monty takes great pride in his work, knowing that he is a part of something bigger than himself.
Monty enjoys spending time with his family and the church community outside of work. He volunteers on various committees and boards, always looking for ways to give back to those around him. His love for carpentry may have started with his father, but it has grown into something much bigger. It is a passion that he will carry with him for the rest of his life.
Luke 5:4-5
When he [Jesus] had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets."

Taeden
CarpentRY TEAM
Taeden is no stranger to hard work. He juggles his studies at Dordt University with a seasonal job at Compass. Although he joined Compass as a way to learn new skills, he quickly discovered a passion for the work. As he learns the ins and outs of the job, Taeden finds himself drawn to the art of framing. There is something satisfying about taking raw materials and transforming them into something new and sturdy.
Of course, the work is not always easy. There are long days spent under the hot sun, and plenty of blisters earned from handling tools. But Taeden never loses his enthusiasm. He knows that every day on the job is a chance to learn something new - and he is eager to soak up as much knowledge as he can.
Outside of work, Taeden has plenty of hobbies to keep him busy. He loves to fish, run, and golf - anything that gets him outside and moving.
Taeden knows that God always has a plan for Him as he continues to build his faith on that solid foundation.
Acts 4:11-12
"Jesus is 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.' Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

Eryn
Administration
Eryn is a valuable member of the Compass team, bringing a unique perspective and a passion for excellence in service to clients and the community. One of the things that Eryn values most about working at Compass is the congruence of their faith and values with those of the organization. This shared mission is what drives Eryn's love for the industry and the community it serves.
One of the key things that Eryn brings to the team is the understanding that everyone has something to learn. She shares this insight with her colleagues on a weekly basis, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and growth in both their personal and professional lives. Eryn believes that life is not just about reaching a destination, but rather, it is about enjoying the journey and learning from both the sunny and rainy days along the way; something instilled in her by her father.
When she's not working hard at Compass, Eryn enjoys reading, traveling, and being in a constant state of learning. She understands the importance of staying on top of the latest tech and trends within the industry and prioritizes this in her own personal and professional development. In addition to her husband, Eryn's life is enriched by a beautiful Giant Schnauzer, who provides them with joy, companionship, and a lot of grooming in equal measure.
Romans 12:2

Hannah
Client Coordinator
Hannah was first introduced to Compass as a client seeking help with her personal home. She was immediately impressed by the team's professionalism, attention to detail, and thoroughness – all of which made her feel confident and at ease. Now, as a member of the Compass team, Hannah loves being a part of the decision-making process and taking charge.
When she's not working, Hannah and her family enjoy spending time outdoors, playing games, cooking, baking, and taking gator rides. Her proudest accomplishment has been building strong, trusting relationships with clients. One of the most significant lessons she has learned in her career is to always treat people with kindness and respect, regardless of their situation. Hannah finds comfort in her favorite Bible verse, which reminds her that God is always there to provide guidance and support during difficult times:
James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
